ST. GEORGE — “Dixie’s Got Talent” is accepting audition applications until Friday for the 6th annual competition finale to be held Jan. 21.

“Dixie’s Got Talent” is a spectacular showcase of talented performers from Southern Utah, according to a press release issued by Dixie State University. More than 100 contestants audition during the open round, and half are invited to callback auditions.

From them, approximately 20 competitors will move ahead to perform in the 1,200-seat packed M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center on the DSU campus. A prestigious panel of judges and enthusiastic voting audience determine the winners, the university’s press release said.

The first-place and runner-up contestants in each category receive cash prizes, experience and exposure before a huge audience and hold the title of “Dixie’s Got Talent” winner for the year.

To audition for the upcoming Dixie’s Got Talent, visit the event website. Auditions will be held Saturday, with callbacks Nov. 21.

Proceeds from the event go toward need-based scholarships to DSU.
