TOQUERVILLE – A woman was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon following a vehicle rollover on state Route 17 south of the central area of Toquerville.

Around 3:10 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the report of a single-vehicle rollover involving a 22-year-old woman, Sheriff’s Sgt. David Crouse said.

The woman was southbound on SR-17 in a white passenger car when she began to drift off the road and then over-corrected. This caused the car to go up an embankment by the road and roll twice before landing on its top, upside down.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, Crouse said.

The tow truck was called for the overturned car. Impact on passing traffic was minimal as the car landed just off the side of the roadway.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the incident.

Personnel with Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
