LaVon Augusta Kelsey Hibbs passed from this life October 3, 2015, at the age of 93 years in St. George, Utah. She was born September 21, 1922, in Billings, Montana, to Charles George Kelsey and Mary Gladys Johnston Kelsey.
On December 20, 1941, she married Robert Eugene Hibbs in San Diego, California. He preceded her in death in 1980. They had two children, Robert Donald Hibbs and Susan Lynn Hibbs Davids.
LaVon lived her first few years in Butte, Montana, until the death of her father. She then moved with her mother and sister to San Diego, where she lived until 2009, when she moved to St. George to live with her son and his wife. She thought San Diego was the best place in the world.
She loved animals, especially dogs and cats.
LaVon was very artistic. In her young adult years, she worked for a photographer colorizing his black and white photos. She also worked for Convair/General Dynamics for many years. She started as a bicycle messenger and later worked as a scheduler in many different departments.
She leaves behind her daughter, Susan Lynn Hibbs Davids, and her husband, Mark Davids; and her son’s wife, Nancy Norman Hibbs.
She had four grandchildren: Karin Hibbs Killian, Krista Hibbs Payne, Robert Eric Hibbs and Brady Davids. She has 18 great grandchildren: Chad, Ashlyn and Parker Killian; Jessie, Jordan and Courtney Payne; Ethan Davids; Brooklyn, Taneesha, Kelsey, Sydnee, Jessica, Austin, Bailee, Jenaye, Ryleigh, Brayden and Corbin Hibbs. She has one great great granddaughter, Jakynleigh Smith.
