Dixie Roundup parade gets morning start; Friday rodeo results

ST. GEORGE — Day three of the Dixie Roundup started with the traditional Roundup Parade. The new 9 a.m. start time saw crowds of kids and rodeo fans lining Tabernacle Street Saturday to enjoy the show.

Rodeo Royalty from around the region including Dixie Roundup Queen Sarah Kemp and Princess McKinley Drake rode and waved to the crowd. Marching Bands from Dixie High School, Snow Canyon High School, Desert Hills High School and Pine View High School were part of the procession.

Middle school bands from Desert Hills, Pine View, Dixie and Snow Canyon also took part in the event.

Dixie 4-Wheel Drive and a flotilla of jeeps performed stunts for the crowd and candy and bubbles were in abundance along the parade route.

The competition concludes tonight with a final push for points by Rusty and Spencer Wright in the Saddle Broncs and Jeremy Jex and Wace Holmes in Bull Riding along with other top cowboys.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for tonight’s rodeo. Tickets are available at the gate.
