Football Friday: 3AA South getting last-minute preparations in before region

ST. GEORGE – It is football Friday – well, for half the teams in the 3AA South region. Dixie, Cedar and Snow Canyon all play final preseason games tonight, while Hurricane, Pine View and Desert Hills are using this Friday to prep for region play with a bye week.

The Flyers take on the resurgent Canyon View Falcons in a game that promises to have a lot of offense from start to finish. The Warriors hope to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss in double-overtime last week by taking on Ogden at Warriors Stadium. And the Redmen had their own heartbreak a week ago and will try to exorcise those demons this evening on the road at the Juab Wasps.

The region slate begins in one week with some great rematches from last season. Hurricane hosts Desert Hills in a state semifinal sequel. Pine View visits Snow Canyon with no love lost between the two teams. And Cedar will try and slow down high-scoring Dixie.

But that’s next week. For tonight, half of the 3AA South teams will battle one last time before the league title chase begins.

Tonight’s games

Ogden at Snow Canyon (ESPN 106.1 FM, CEC-TV)
Parry’s Line: Warriors by 28.9
AG pick: SC will roll to 3-1 as Tigers struggle for identity

Canyon View at Dixie, 7 p.m. (890-AM KDXU)
Parry’s Line: Flyers by 27.6
AG: Falcons are better than they have been in long time, but no match for Dixie athleticism

Cedar at Juab, 7 p.m. (590-AM KSUB)
Parry’s line: Wasps by 12.2
AG: Juab is classification below, but a class act. Wasps in a close one.
