Saved by ‘a seat belt and God’; rollover on I-15

WASHINGTON CITY — A flat tire on the interstate is never a good thing; but when it occurs as you’re towing a large box trailer, it can be a serious problem, as one man found out Friday morning when he lost control of his gardening truck and trailer and rolled into the median just north of the Green Springs exit in Washington.

“A Ford pickup with a box trailer carrying lawn care equipment appeared to be going southbound on I-15 near milepost 11.5,” Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Grant Hintze said. “He had a flat tire on his truck, which caused him to lose control and go off the left shoulder of the freeway, going into the median and rolling over onto its side.”

The cause of the accident appears to be faulty tires, Hintze said. The trooper was seen measuring tread depths on both the truck and the trailer tires.

“The driver was completely OK,” Hintze said. “(He) did not get transported by ambulance, wearing a seat belt. When I arrived on scene, that was the first thing he told me was that seat belt and God saved him.”

The truck and trailer suffered major damage in the crash. Citations are pending, Hintze said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Why would God let tire blow out and then jump in to save our lawn maintenance guy? More likely worn out and under-inflated tires caused accident and the gardener was saved by use of seat belt, well engineered vehicle passenger compartment and luck of the draw.

I agree. Classic have your cake and eat it too. If a guy is saved by some miracle Jesus is great. If 100 children get wiped out in a flood Jesus works in “Mysterious Ways”. It’s called drinking the kool-aid.

Well there was another accident at the same time in another place . and it was a rollover and it was a devil worshipper with a skateboard and a Harry Potter DVD in the car and wasn’t wearing a seat belt and he survived also. Praise the dark side.!
