3AA South Monday Review: Highlights and key stats From Friday’s games; STGNews videocast

The 3AA South went 6-0 in Week 2, with Pine View and Snow Canyon capturing road wins and the rest of the region winning at home.

Snow Canyon 26, Cottonwood 13
Play of the game: Jackson Nowatzke finds Jake Rhea from 41-yards out in the third quarter to make it 17-7.
Player of the game: Josh Barnes 84 rushing – 5 yards per carry, TD
Key stat: Warriors forced 4 Tos and held Colts to 236 total yards
Bottom line: Snow Canyon defense 20 points, less than 500 yds in 2 games

Pine View 23, Uintah 0
Play of the game: Livingston to Mandrigues 51-yarder gets Panthers rolling
Player of the game: Lance Mandrigues 6 rec., 125 yds, TD
Key stat: Utes had just 104 yds of offense & 6 first downs
Bottom line: Utes played PV tough, but Panthers D was immovable.

Desert Hills 50, Foothill, Nev. 6
Play of the game: Nick Warmsley to Zak Fuchs 73 TD in the 1Q
Player of the game: Fuchs 6-122 receiving, 2 TDs
Key stat: Warmsley with 6 TDs, 3 rush and 3 pass
Bottom line: Thunder outscore Falcons 91-7 in 2 games.

Dixie 56, Mohave, Ariz. 10
Play of the game: Daniel Tuituviki 35 INT return for TD
Player of the game: Tre Miller with 208 rush yds (12.2 ypc)
Key stat: Dixie with 432 yds of offense
Bottom line: Flyers dominate an undermanned Mohave team.

Hurricane 32, Union 21
Play of the game: Kyler Blackmore 16 TD run after shanked punt.
Player of the game: Jake Carr with 158 rush yds, 4 TDs
Key stat: Tigers rush for 324 yds, (6.9 ypc)
Bottom line: Tougher than expected game, but Tigers owned the fourth quarter

Cedar 41, Virgin Valley 7
Play of the game: CHJS opened the game with a 61-yd TD pass from Mason Fakahua to Berick Englestead.
Player of the game: Mason Fakahua ran and passed Redmen to easy win.
Key stat: 8 – Number of turnovers redmen have forced in season’s first two games.
Bottom line: Redmen were much better than smaller foes from Nevada and Josh Bennett gets first win.
