Krissia Beatty has been enjoying representing Utah at multiple events since she was crowned Miss Utah in June. Saturday morning, she emceed a fashion show for young girls at the Red Cliffs Mall in St. George.

She also recently had the opportunity to spend time with the other Miss America contestants in Florida.

As part of this special pageant preview, Miss Utah was interviewed by a mock panel about her platform of healthy living, followed by inquiries about current political issues. She then showcased her musical skills with a piano performance for the audience.

Of the top 15 contestants in the Miss America competition, 14 girls will be chosen by the celebrity judges, and one will be voted in by America.

“It is always good to have a backup plan,” Kimberly Beatty said.

Attendees were urged to spread the word about voting for Miss Utah on Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #MissAmericaVote and including the word “Utah.”

The Miss America preliminaries will take place Sept. 8-10, and the final night of the pageant will be aired live Sept. 13 on ABC.
