5A Jordan just too much for Thunder in season-opener

ST. GEORGE — After playing to a 13-13 draw halfway through the first quarter, the Jordan Beetdiggers went on a 27-0 run to put the game away and went on to beat Desert Hills 54-34 Friday night.

dhthunderA combination of fumbles, dropped passes and empty possessions after driving deep in Jordan territory kept the Thunder from scoring again through two and a half quarters. Desert Hills would not score again until the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The Thunder did rally somewhat in the final stanza, at one point closing to a 47-34 deficit. However, Jordan answered again, then recovered a late Thunder fumble to put the game on ice for a final of 54-34.

Zak Fuchs had a 128 receiving yards and Nick Warmsley passed for 287 yards in the loss for D-Hills, which hosts Foothill, nev. next Friday night.
