(November 26, 1928 – August 8, 2015)
Heaven gained another angel as our sweet mother, Verna Moss, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86, on Saturday morning, August 8, 2015. Mother began her life on November 26, 1928. The second daughter of four, born to Iona Belle Barnum Reber and Clarence Reber of Mesquite, Nevada. Mother enjoyed her life growing up in the Virgin Valley. Life was not easy and her family enjoyed stories she told of those early years.
She graduated from Virgin Valley High School on May 22, 1946. On May 23, 1946, she married the love of her life Boyd B. Moss. Mother and Dad were married for 52 years when dad passed away on September 19, 1998. Mother carried on, but her life was forever changed with dads passing.
They had two children, Boyd B. Moss Jr. (Donna) and Janice Moss Draskovich (Robert). They raised their family in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then moved back to Mesquite, where they lived out the remainder of their years.
Mother was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She greatly enjoyed her ward meetings clear to the end of her life and unless ill she seldom missed. Mother was an angel. She was gentle, kind and enjoyed most her time spent at home with her family and friends. She was well loved and will be missed by many.
Mother is survived by her three sisters; Clareen Leavitt (Clawson, deceased) Sharon Weaver (Stephen, deceased) and Rebecca Castagno (Tony, deceased); and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mother found her greatest joy in her family which includes her two children and their spouses; seven grandchildren and their spouses; 35 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, at 10 a.m. at the Mesquite LDS Stake Center, 100 North Arrowhead Lane, Mesquite.
- A visitation will be held Saturday, 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the stake center.
