ST. GEORGE – A 30-year-old St. George woman is paying a rather hefty-price after allegedly letting her emotions get the best of her during a “frenemies” altercation Wednesday where she began smashing pots and lawn decor before throwing a statue through a window. She is now facing two felony charges and a class A misdemeanor.
Officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct around 8 p.m. Wednesday on the 2500 East block of 100 South in St. George, according to a probable cause statement filed by the St. George Police Department in support of the arrest.
When police arrived on scene, they learned of an alleged altercation that had just occurred between two women.
One woman told police that her friend, Rebecca Leigh Cooper, had started texting her and harassing her because she thought the woman had been talking badly about her, according to court documents. Cooper then told the woman she was on her way to her house and was “going to kick her a–.”
Cooper arrived at the woman’s house and began pounding on the door. After a time, the woman opened the door and the two began to argue, the statement said. Cooper then allegedly pulled on the woman’s arm in an attempt to get her out of the house but the woman was able to free herself and shut the door.
“A few seconds later,” the arresting officer wrote in the statement, “she heard loud crashing noises and Rebecca still screaming outside on the front porch. She opened the door and Rebecca was throwing items from the porch and smashing them. These items included several lawn décor and pots on the porch.”
When Cooper grabbed the woman a second time, the statement said, the woman slapped Cooper in the face, knocking off her glasses and enraging Cooper.
“Rebecca became very upset at this point and started to throw more items on the porch against a vehicle in the driveway,” the arresting officer wrote. “She caused several dents to a small passenger vehicle. In her fit of rage she took a statue from the lawn and threw it through a front window causing it to shatter and break.”
The woman said she was calling the police and Cooper left.
After reading text messages sent from Cooper, and observing scratches on the woman’s arm, broken glass on the porch, dents on a parked car, along with a “full basketball size whole in the window with shattered glass,” police went to Cooper’s home to arrest her.
Cooper had her attorney present and said she did not want to talk to police. She was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.
She was charged with second-degree felony burglary, third-degree felony criminal mischief for causing damages exceeding $1,000, along with a class B misdemeanor for assault.
Cooper was released from custody on $15,623 bail. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance Aug. 11.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Well does she have a prior record? Two felonies tho? That’s how they do it in STG. They trump the charges way up to try to force a plea rather than rolling the dice in a trial and maybe being convicted on 2 felonies. They’ll plead her down to a couple misdemeanors and a fine, maybe some drug rehab. You never ever challenge the mormonocracy’s court system, ever!
