SALT LAKE CITY — Natalie Murray was crowned Mrs. Utah America 2015 July 20 with her platform theme, “Don’t delay, prepare today,” as she partnered with the American Red Cross.
“I decided that promoting, educating and motivating our community to become better prepared for disasters and other life events would be a great way to make a difference,” Murray said. “My affiliation with the Red Cross will help provide resources and opportunities to do that”
Murray plans to receive training as a Red Cross volunteer to help further her platform.
“We are honored to have Natalie as an advocate for the Red Cross mission and look forward to her contributions as a volunteer,” Red Cross Utah Region Communications Director Rich Woodruff said.
The Mrs. Utah pageant has been taking place since 1977.
“This is not a vanity-driven event. Eighty percent of the women who enter are first time participants,” Mrs. Utah Executive Director Diane Ritter said. “There is no set profile or professional criteria required. They enter to fulfill goals and dreams. The pageant simply provides a forum for women to train and develop themselves in whatever path they choose.”

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
