ST. GEORGE – Two people were transported to the hospital Monday following a three-vehicle collision on St. George Boulevard.
Just before noon, a pickup truck westbound on St. George Boulevard near 100 West was slowing for a car turning into a business parking lot when it was rear-ended by a Toyato Yaris, St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said.
The Toyota had been slowing down with the traffic, Hale said, but it was rear-ended by a Ford Focus behind it, sending it into the back of the truck.
The woman driving the Ford told police her brakes didn’t respond when she attempted to slow down, Hale said.
The collision resulted in the driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the Ford being transported to the hospital for minor injuries. The occupants in the pickup truck did not report any injuries.
The Toyota Yaris and Ford Focus were rendered inoperable and temporarily reduced traffic on that segment of St. George Boulevard to a single lane until their removal.
A citation had yet to be written up while officers were still at the scene, though Hale said it was likely the driver of the Ford would be cited for negligent collision.
The St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
