Mary Bradshaw Lortz

(July 1, 1918 – June 10, 2015)

Mary B. Lortz, daughter of William Bertie and Johanna Hazel Bentley Bradshaw, was born in St. George, Utah, on July 1, 1918. She passed away June 10, 2015.

Mary married Carus L. Lortz in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 3, 1936. After graduating from Dixie High School in 1936, they moved to Salt Lake City until 1952 when the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Upon retiring in 1977, they returned to St. George, Utah. Mary loved music, arts, crafts and reading. She worked in the St. George LDS Temple. Also active in the DUP (Daughters of Utah Pioneers) she held many church positions.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Carlon J) Cooke; son, Larry (Annilise) Lortz; 21 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister, Joan Schmutz. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; and brother, William.

Funeral Services

  • Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, Utah.

Arrangements have been made under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
