HURRICANE — The Sand Hollow Sailing Classic, hosted by Hobie Fleet 941 and the Sand Hollow Yacht Club, is in its second of two days racing at Sand Hollow Reservoir.
Saturday proved extremely challenging for the participants, Hobie Fleet 941 Commodore Raul Hevia said.
“We had three races with winds of up to 16 knots, or 17 miles per hour, and it was very challenging,” he said. “The winds switched directions a little bit throughout the racing, and it made things very technically challenging for the sailors. Everybody was really happy with all the racing we did yesterday.”
Hevia said Sunday’s races should be just as exciting, as the wind is starting to come up around 1 p.m.
“We’ll have one or two races today, then we’ll call it, add up the points, and award the trophies,” Hevia said.
Trophies and prizes will be presented at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Admission is free, except for the Sand Hollow State Park entrance fees.

P.S. 60 knots must be a typo; it is nearly 70mph, and impossible to sail. 17mph is about 15knots and would be an excellent sailing breeze.

Sixty knots sounds like a lot of wind, even for Hobie Cats. The two numbers don’t equate anyway. I’m betting the speed closer to the 17 mph.
P.S. 17mph would equate to sixteen knots, as opposed to sixty…That’s probably what was meant…

Hobbie Cats have two states – one, a trailer, and two, capcized in the water.
