ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle accident tied up the intersection of 400 East and 100 South for a short time Monday morning after one of the cars started moving through a red light.
Around 9:30 a.m., a Dodge Stratus driven by a 23-year-old woman was heading westbound on 100 South through the intersection when her car was hit by a Subaru Legacy, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.
The Subaru, driven by a 63-year-old woman, had been stopped at a red light, on northbound 400 East. For some reason the woman started moving her car through the intersection while the light was still red and collided with the Dodge, Despain said.
The Dodge made it though the intersection and parked on the side of the road, while the Subaru was rendered inoperable and was stuck in the middle of the intersection, blocking the southbound lanes.
No injuries were reported at the scene, though both vehicles ended up having to be towed.
The driver of the Subaru was cited for running the red light, Despain said.
