Judith Ann Grim

GrimJudith(September 26, 1932 – April 20, 2015)

Judith Ann Grim, age 82, passed away on April 20, 2015, in St George, Utah.  She was born September 26, 1932, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Lawrence and Neva Souers.  Judy was raised in Moorhead, Minnesota, and spent many summers at Big Cormorant Lake in Minnesota.

She completed high school and two years of college before marrying James Dee Forrest Grim in St John’s, Newfoundland, on March 9, 1953.  Judy and Jim lived many places after she was married, including St John’s Newfoundland Canada; Fargo, North Dakota; Moorhead, Minnesota; Okinawa, Japan; Edwards Air Force Base, California; Oxon Hill, Maryland; Fairfax/Chantilly, Virginia; Northgate, North Dakota;  Chula Vista, California; Silver City, New Mexico;  Ramona, California;  and St. George, Utah.

Her first love was always her husband Jim.  Close on her heels were nine children, the jewels in her crown.  Judy was an absolute wiz at sewing, creating many of the girls’ clothes as they were growing up.  Her many other hobbies included swimming, playing the flute/french horn, painting, refinishing furniture, making candy (english toffee, caramels, and peanut brittle), and spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved to play cards, games, and solve challenging puzzles.  She had an engineer’s mind and could master whatever she set out to do, very organized and clever. That’s what helped her make it through nine kids!

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by all her children: Alexander Xavier Grim of Fairfield, Ohio, Dana Lee (Geneva) Grim of Page, Arizona,  Matthew Allen (Marilynn) Grim of Falling Waters, West Virginia, Debra Jean (Carl) Gaither of  Reno, Nevada,  Lori Suzanne (James) Palmeri of Sacramento, California,  Koni Marie (David) Ritch of  St. George, Utah,  Sandra Louise (Hans) de Haan of  St. George, Utah, Jocelyn Rae (Inoh) Hsieh of Ramona, California and Anthony Charles  (Bree) Grim of  Bremerton, Washington; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn and Don; and one sister, Nancy.
