WASHINGTON CITY — Failure to yield to oncoming traffic at the Green Springs Drive and Telegraph Street-Red Cliffs Drive intersection Monday resulted in a two-vehicle collision, impeding traffic through the intersection for a period of time.
Around 10:45 a.m., a woman driving a white Dodge truck was traveling south on Green Springs Drive, Washington City Police Department’s Public Information Officer Ed Kantor said, while a juvenile driving a white Ford SUV was traveling north on Green Springs Drive, preparing to make a left-hand turn onto Red Cliffs Drive.
As the woman driving the Dodge truck entered the intersection, the driver of the Ford SUV turned in front of her and the two vehicles collided, Kantor said.
While no injuries were reported as a result of the collision, he said, the Ford SUV had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Ford SUV was issued a citation for failure to yield, Kantor said.
Traffic through the intersection was impeded for approximately 45 minutes as crews worked to tow the Ford SUV and clear debris from the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by UHP at the scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Texting, I imagine.
ol’ robb, always imagining things
I’d like to imagine you becoming a decent human being, Gas Bag. I just can’t stretch credibility that far, however.
Is it possible to turn left from Green Springs onto Green Springs?
ROBB and you know that from completing your investigation eh.?
Do you understand what the words “I imagine” mean. Is English your second language?
Yet another accident involving the blinking yellow arrow. I think the concept is as easy as the “yield on green” system, which when it confuses people usually causes them not to turn at all until the green arrow shows up. Not sure when the solution is…
Everyone who had been on an accident at that intersection should look into a class action lawsuit against the entity responsible for putting it in. It is so deceiving to the novice driver who is turning left onto Red Cliffs when traveling N on Green Springs. I believe this young man simply didn’t know how to navigate that flashing yellow arrow. It’s a pretty stupid place to put an unusual signal light seeing how a lot of tourists and high school kids travel that area.
Plus it is a very busy intersection to use a ‘yield on flashing arrow’ system, but then again, our traffic “engineers” are just a pack of mormon good ol’ boys.
Update the Traffic System to accommodate the population. St. George is the most idyllic place I have ever lived. Everybody else thinks so too.
Watch everyone move here, and watch more accidents. Intersections are death traps. Crossing town is an ordeal. Clever that lights are timed on St. George Boulevard, Bluff, and maybe River. Not enough.
This city needs a beltway. It’s sort of begun with Red Cliffs Boulevard, Dixie, Riverside, and Foremaster. If you finish it, we’ll cut back on the accidents.
