ST. GEORGE — Television network Investigation Discovery will feature the Hyrum homicide of Trisha Autry Sunday in the TV series “On the Case with Paula Zahn.”

The episode, “Deadly Warning,” will premiere at 8 p.m. MDT Sunday.

On the morning of June 24, 2000, JoAnn Autry went into her daughter Trisha Autry’s room and discovered the 15-year-old was not in her bed. After searching the neighborhood and calling Trisha Autry’s friends yielded no clues about her whereabouts, JoAnn Autry called the police.

The missing persons report concluded that Trisha Autry probably left under her own power because there was no sign of forced entry or a struggle.

Interviews with Trisha Autry’s friends added to the theory that the young woman could be a runaway after they said Trisha Autry had threatened to leave home before, but her family remained convinced Trisha Autry had been a victim of foul play and would never have abandoned her father, who was dying from cancer.

The family hired private investigator, John Holem, to spearhead the search, and he uncovered several important clues that changed the way police viewed the case.

In the end, the key to learning the truth would require detectives to unravel a cryptic message inscribed in Trisha’s high school yearbook by one of her best friends.

Hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Paula Zahn, “On the Case” profiles fascinating, true investigations that weave together the emotional twists and turns of stories of perseverance, courage and justice. Zahn’s journalistic expertise and passion for the truth resonate in each episode, with in-depth interviews and reporting that go beyond the headlines in her search to resolve mysteries from within that nation’s justice system.
