Girls basketball roundup: Beckstrand, Done toast North Sanpete

A day after scoring 40 points in Desert Hills’ win over Maple Mountain, Ashley Beckstrand tossed in 31 to help the Lady Thunder hand North Sanpete its second loss of the season, 59-44 in Mt. Pleasant.

Desert-Hills-smKenzie Done added 18 for D-Hills, which pulls its record to 4-4 on the season with a key early Region match-up at home vs. Dixie looming Tuesday night.

Beckstrand also had 7 rebounds and 5 steals in the Thunder’s up-tempo pressing attack. Done added 6 boards and 4 thefts and Rylee Jensen had 8 points and 5 rebounds for DH.

The Hawks, 4-2, got 12 points and 9 rebounds out of star Jaycee Dunn, but were held well below their 50 points a game average.

Beckstrand, a sophomore, is averaging 22.8 points a game in the seven games she’s played this season. Done. a junior multi-sport athlete, is scoring 15 per game.

Pine View 43, Uintah 40

The Lady Panthers moved to 5-1 with the impressive home win.

Pine-view-smPine View travels to Hurricane Tuesday night to try and go 2-0 in region for the first time in since the 2005-06 season.

Uintah, which beat Hurricane by 13 Friday night, fell to 4-4 with the loss to the Panthers.
