OPINION – Thanksgiving is an opportune time to make new memories with the ones you are most thankful for.

Whether it’s with family you call friends, or friends you call family – many of us travel far and wide to ensure we eat the tastiest meal of the year with the ones we love. So what’s the best go-to activity for the day after – besides eating leftovers?

Laser Mania, located right off of St. George Boulevard, has an array of safe and affordable activities that the whole family will enjoy. Plus, it’s all indoors so you won’t even need to check the forecast first.

Perhaps its most unique attraction is glow-in-the-dark mini golf. Yep, you can celebrate Black Friday without going shopping by participating in this 13-hole black-lit course.

Each hole is uniquely themed and suitable for all ages. You’ll travel down the yellow brick road, run into Spider-man, and possibly even cross the golden gate bridge! The artwork along the walls will pop out at you if you request the special 3D glasses at the front counter before you begin.

My putt-putt skills aren’t quite up to par, but something about taking a swing in the dark made me confident I would get a hole-in-one. Turns out it was just wishful thinking.

Tip: Wear white to stand out and accentuate the black light effect.

Another amusing attraction unlike any other is the 4D movie ride. You can choose from several short movies that each last around 10 minutes. The 3D movies are combined with features that include motion seats, back ticklers, rain, snow, and scents.

It’s definitely a family friendly activity worth trying at least once.

If you’re looking for something with strategy (and an adrenaline rush), you must play laser tag. The multilevel arena requires quick thinking and constant action. It’s space-themed and is 20 minutes of fog-filled fun.

As much as I loved laser tag growing up, I was somewhat skeptical suggesting this date night idea to my husband.

Turns out you don’t have to be a kid to love playing this kind of tag. It never gets old. Just know many players are in it to win it, so be prepared and plan accordingly.

You wouldn’t want to legitimately lose to a 7 year old now, would you?

Other attractions include the bumper cars and the arcade games. Once again adults, don’t just hand over all the tokens to the kids. I know how much you love ski ball.

If possible, don’t limit yourself to one attraction; prices per activity are lower the more you play. Special rates are also available for large groups – be sure to call ahead for more information.

All in all, Laser Mania is a great place to enjoy some good clean family fun. So don’t hesitate to have an extra slice of pumpkin pie tonight- you’ll work the extra calories off during laser tag tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!
