Dr. Douglas J Zinni passed away suddenly October, 22, 2014, at the age of 69. He was born April 7, 1945, to Dr. Jerry and Marcella Zinni in Cleveland, OH. He is survived by his three younger brothers; Nicholas, Gerald, and Richard Zinni; his loving wife, Carole; four children; Dan (Laurie) Hale, Kerri (Kevin) Snook, Brenan (Briana) Zinni and Whitney Zinni (Levi Goltz); and five grandchildren.
Douglas graduated from Shaker Heights High school in Shaker Heights, OH class of 1964, and then served four years in the Army as a medical specialist. He continued his education in medicine, graduating from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA.
Douglas completed his residency in General Surgery at Richmond Heights General Hospital in Richmond Heights, OH in 1982. He was a Certified General Surgeon on staff at Richmond Heights General Hospital until 1996. Douglas also served the communities of; Youngstown, OH, Henderson and Boulder City, NV, Martinsville, IN and spent the last ten years practicing General Surgery at Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite, NV. He served on numerous boards in his many years as a physician and had a large impact on his staff, peers, and community. Douglas was a member of La Virgen De Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesquite, NV. He most enjoyed his family, golf, and driving his sports car. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral Services
- A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, from 2-4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 1030 West Pioneer Blvd, Mesquite, Nevada.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the ‘Brentwood Foundation’ which is a not-for-profit, private foundation dedicated to the promotion and advancement of medical education, research and patient care in the field of Osteopathic medicine.
