
WASHINGTON CITY — The men’s basketball competition came to a close Saturday at the Huntsman World Senior Games.
Overall, 32 teams competed, averaging nine players per team. For the men’s 50-plus 5 on 5 silver bracket, it came down to West Ridge Academy taking on NBC Sports. Both teams played hard and displayed massive amounts of heart, showing true sportsmanship across the court. In the end, West Ridge took the win 78-65.
Shelf Life International took gold in the 50-plus gold bracket, beating Darling Distributing 86-70.
Saturday’s basketball event, which took place at the Washington City Community Center, caps off the HWSG’s 28th year, with thousands of athletes competing in 27 events in this annual October athletic festival. More than 2,500 volunteers help put the games on, with competitors flocking to Utah’s Dixie from all over the United States and from numerous foreign countries, including teams or competitors from the continents of Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and North and South America.
