Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Claudia Lewis Heywood, 75, passed away October 15, 2014, from complications of a stroke, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 9, 1939, in Kamas, Utah, to Scott Alan and Lucinda Eskelsen Lewis.
Claudia had a happy childhood being raised in Kamas. She was the third of eight children. She married Ronald Gardiner Heywood December 5, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple. From their marriage nine children were born, five daughters and four sons; Ronda of St. George, Lewis (Gayla) of Taylorsville, John (Norma) of Pflugerville, Texas, Mary Ann Bishop (John) of St. George, Edwin (Tammy) of North Ogden, Judy Newlands of Hurricane, Shirley Creel of LaVerkin, Larry of LaVerkin, Patricia Gummow (Kevin) of Hurricane.
Claudia was a hardworking, loving mother and grandmother who dedicated her whole life to her family. She loved to go camping and spend time with her children. She also loved to sew, quilt, and crochet for her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and all her six brothers, Alan (Sheila) Lewis, Homer (Judy) Lewis, Eric Lewis, Sidney (Marlene) Lewis, Charles (Lila) Lewis, Leslie (Nida) Lewis, and sister, Annette (Ron) Sewell.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel, 1178 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah.
- A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 17 from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the services at the chapel.
- Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
