Andy Griffin has been in sports media since 1989 and has covered BYU, Utah State and the Utah Jazz as well as all sports in southern Utah. A journalism graduate of USU, Andy has carried on a dual career as both a sports writer and a sports broadcaster and has been heard around the country. He has also been published in USA Today, Sport magazine, The Sporting News, Fairways magazine, the Los Angeles Times and locally in the Deseret News, the Salt Lake Tribune and the Spectrum. Andy was “The Voice of Region 9 sports,” for many years. He also hosted a daily sports talk show for three years called AG in the a.m.
Andy has been married to his college sweetheart Shelly for 28 years and has five children ages 13 to 25.

Coach Franke was standing up for what was right. But your right Ted he should get the axe because he’s a state championship coach after two years. Get a life and a clue!! Dixie played better tonight, period. Desert Hills will still be there in the end mark my words. also, you have no clue who he is as a man, he does so much for so many people in this community and teaches young men to become winners after they are done playing. You wished he was your coach!
I personally played for Schroeder and franke at dixie. Both were terribly errogant. I’m glad the kids out there like them. And I hope that they have changed or the kids are blind

You sure seem to know every little secret that goes on in the local football environment. Do you just go around asking for gossip from the coaches? I am glad that in Cedar we don’t have little gossip girls like you who think they know everything.
Yes, it was his first year, he didn’t know better. It’s no wonder why he let both of them go the following year. They both burned their bridges at dixie and snow canyon. They had to go to the newest school cause all the old ones were over them. Case and point, they’re good coaches but good isn’t an excuse to be arrogant. Franke was kicked out of st george softball leagues for life. That doesn’t just happen for no reason.
No gossip in Cedar. But at least I’m not on here tearing down people and calling people names. I have relationships with most of the coaches in the region so yes, I do know some facts not gossip. Gossip is stating things without fact, I haven’t done that. By the way how is my buddy Coach Peacock and his new boss Danny Lewis and their relationship lately?! LOL
That’s too much!!!! BEEN THERE, you know a ton about Franke? Of course you would never say any of these things to him. By the way no bridges were burned at SC. The whole coaching staff left after the first year because they were standing up for what was right and for the players. Coach S. was the arrogant jerk who ran everyone off. Also, why is Franke and Schroeder arrogant, they don’t talk about themselves ever and work with kids on a daily basis. If you had a bad experience with them you should go talk to them and clear the air, but that’s how men do things so I wouldn’t expect you to do that. I would also be careful about how much you post about people on here, slander is a scary word!!

I played for Franke at dixie years ago. Passionate and loves the players and game yes, Arrogant, not even close. He is a great coach and even better human being!! Sounds like to me you have playing time issues…
You just slandered Coach S Vassa. Do as I say, not as I do. With how much money coaches make they should be under the microscope. Head coaches probably make 40-50k per season. Assistants half that.
Hey Frank, try $3500 per year for head coach and around $1000 per assistant up to 3 assistants for football. Your comment right there shows how educated you are on the whole coaching network here in St George. 40-50K??????? Where did you get that information from?
