Hartley, Renon obit(August 29, 1959—September 27, 2014)

Renon Baker Hartley, 55, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 1:45 p.m. at Dixie Regional Medical Center Hospital. She was born August 29, 1959, in Inglewood, California, to David Eugene Baker and Joan Tilt Baker. Renon married Leonard LaMar Hartley Jr. in St. George, Utah, on September 23, 1978.

Renon never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. She was a mother figure to everyone. People knew her as Mama Hartley. Renon raised many others in addition to raising her own children. Her greatest joys in life were her husband, children, and grandchildren. She always traveled to be with her children. She attended and supported every event she could for her family.

Renon had a passion for sewing, traveling, playing games, reading, and loved to play sports. She recently started attending Dixie State University and fell in love with her classes, classmates, and teachers. She had an outgoing and unforgettable personality and a zest for life that was infectious.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard L. Hartley Jr. of St. George, Utah; three daughters, Tasha Hartley (Dereck) Hill of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Melinda Hartley (Douglas) Shonk of Washougal, Washington, Corin Hartley (Robert) Hogan of Gulf Breeze, Florida; son, Jacob LaMar (Julissa Vera) Hartley of St. George, Utah; 13 grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, David Alan (Janet) Baker and Richard Michael (Georgia) Baker; sister, Sandra Baker (Terry) Johnson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, David Eugene Baker and Joan Tilt Baker; and step-mother, Barbara Fuller Baker.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Snow Canyon Stake Center, 1184 North Dixie Downs Road, St. George, Utah.
  • A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 3 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the stake center.
  • Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
