ST. GEORGE — A 41-year-old Texas man was arrested Friday for unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 year-old girl while the two were staying in a hotel in St. George.
Authorities responded to the Rodeway Inn, located at 999 Red Hills Parkway, after a runaway 16-year-old girl was reported to have been found, Officer Wyatt Miles of the St. George Police Department wrote in a probable cause statement supporting the arrest.
When officers interviewed the girl, Miles said in the statement, she told them she had participated in sexual intercourse on two occasions with Carlos Flores, of Houston, Texas, who was also staying at the hotel.
During an interview with Flores, he told investigators he rented the hotel room for the girl, Miles said. Flores also admitted to participating in sexual conduct with the girl, but said he never engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Flores was arrested and charged with two third-degree felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Flores was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility. He is currently being held on a $10,000 bail.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
