IVINS – The Santa Clara-Ivins City Police Department is currently investigating a possible hit and run that resulted in damage to city property.
Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the Split Rock area of Entrada. The accident occurred Friday at approximately 5 p.m. when a passenger car went off the roadway and hit a fire hydrant. When police arrived on scene, the vehicle had been abandoned, Santa Clara-Ivins Police Officer Chad Holt said.
The fire hydrant was broken off its mount as a result of the accident but there was no resulting water leak, and the accident didn’t cause any issues with the piping connected to the hydrant, Holt said.
As of 7:45 p.m. Friday, Holt said the incident is still under investigation, and no additional information is yet available.
