ST. GEORGE — A pedestrian was transported to the hospital Thursday morning after being struck by a car in a crosswalk on Sunset Boulevard.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., an elderly man was pulling out of the Sunset InstaCare parking lot, located at 1739 W. Sunset Blvd., to travel eastbound on Sunset Boulevard, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.
“At the time this car was pulling out, there was an adult male pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk,” Despain said, “and as the car pulled out, it didn’t see the pedestrian.”
When the car hit the pedestrian, it pushed against the man’s leg, causing him to twist his ankle, Despain said.
The pedestrian was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George mostly as a precaution, Despain said. The man had minor injuries, including a sprained ankle.
The driver of the car was issued a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian, Despain said.
