Pedestrian struck by car in crosswalk on Sunset Boulevard

ST. GEORGE — A pedestrian was transported to the hospital Thursday morning after being struck by a car in a crosswalk on Sunset Boulevard.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., an elderly man was pulling out of the Sunset InstaCare parking lot, located at 1739 W. Sunset Blvd., to travel eastbound on Sunset Boulevard, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.

“At the time this car was pulling out, there was an adult male pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk,” Despain said, “and as the car pulled out, it didn’t see the pedestrian.”

When the car hit the pedestrian, it pushed against the man’s leg, causing him to twist his ankle, Despain said.

The pedestrian was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George mostly as a precaution, Despain said. The man had minor injuries, including a sprained ankle.

The driver of the car was issued a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian, Despain said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Old people who drive are every bit as dangerous as younger drivers on their cell phones. It’s a good thing Old People don’t know how to text.

    How is this newsworthy?

  • koolaid September 25, 2014 at 4:34 pm

Pedestrians need to start packing to protect themselves from these maniacal drivers who pay no attention to anything outside of their car capsule.

Oh and that Instacare is worthless. Probably the worst doctors you can find. Better to seek medical advice from a random stranger on the street that there.

  • groanattack September 25, 2014 at 6:37 pm

Should have called a taxi, probably a $13 dollar ride. Ambulance, probably a $700 dollar ride.

    • that guy September 25, 2014 at 9:39 pm

No not $700 try $1800 when was the last time used an ambulance?

  • Herd September 25, 2014 at 6:57 pm

Once you have been involved in an accident the IHC Instacare will not treat you. They send you to the hospital.

  • Killjoy September 25, 2014 at 8:11 pm

The bad car. The bad,bad car. “It didn’t see the pedestrian.”

  • Knan September 26, 2014 at 1:33 am

Did the ambulance take the pedestrian from the crash out front of the instacare to the instacare??? Can’t stretchers make it a couple hundred yards?

  • Knan September 26, 2014 at 1:34 am

Ohhh the pedestrian got struck in front of the wrong instacare…. Better choose the right hospital to be run over in front of

Thank goodness it was a man behind the wheel this time. My fellow women drivers were beginning to worry me.

Got onto the southbound 15 at Greensprings just the other day. Unfortunately, I got stuck behind an “elderly ” lady on the onramp going exactly 15 mph…..all the way to where the stripped line ends. Talk about actually getting on the freeway at about 25 mph. This lady almost caused an accident with southbound traffic traveling south, specifically, a 18 wheeler who couldn’t move over into the fast lane to let onramp traffic get onto the freeway. Finally, approaching exit 8 (St. George Blvd) the lady was able to reach the time warp speed of about 40 mph…..ON THE FREAKING FREEWAY! Talk about an accident waiting to happen…..

Ladybug- Don’t forget you will get old one day and have to eat your words. Old people don’t text or use the phone and drive. I think you facts are wrong about who causes the most accidents. I bet you speed and tailgate too. Have you tried taking the bus in this town?

    • ladybugavenger September 27, 2014 at 9:48 am

What??? What words am I gonna eat….an expensive ambulance ride? The repeat of events this week? Hate crime? Guilty murder plea?

      • ladybugavenger September 27, 2014 at 9:53 am
