ST. GEORGE — Utah women are invited to the Thrive Symposium Sept. 18-20 at Dixie State University for a brand new leadership conference that promises a weekend of insight, advice, and motivation.
Opening ceremonies will take place at the Tuacahn Center for the Arts with the guiding mantra for the conference “women living and working in abundance.”
“This is not your typical weekend getaway,” said Mary Scott, president of Fishbowl Inventory and one of the presenters at the conference. “Thrive is about empowering women to succeed.”
The three-day event is open to all women, with an emphasis on women in professional or business roles. The discussions and workshops are designed to help today’s entrepreneurial woman thrive at home and work.
“It can be very intimidating for women to reenter the workforce or advance into leadership roles,” said Barbara Jones, Symposium founder. “The Thrive Symposium will light the path toward opportunity and independence.”
Even in its inaugural year, Thrive Symposium already has an impressive line-up of dozens of presenters that will focus on topics ranging from strengthening networking and interviewing skills, to creating financial security and finding business funding sources.
The speakers include Val Hale, executive director of Utah’s Office of Economic Development; Hyrum W. Smith, co-founder of FranklinCovey; Dr. Jessica Egbert, associate vice president of planning at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions; Leialoha Pakalani, director of development at the J. Reuben Clark Law School; and Jeff Olsen, author of “I Knew their Hearts” and “Beyond Mile Marker 80.”
In addition to learning from business leaders and best-selling authors, those attending Thrive will be energized by the many cultural and outdoor experiences awaiting them in the St. George area.
“We are planning for plenty of free time so that the women can go to Tuacahn and catch a Broadway show under the stars, or take in the scenery at Snow Canyon or Zion National Park,” Jones said.
Thrive Symposium is sponsored by the Business Resource Center at Dixie State University, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, Fishbowl Inventory, Corporate Alliance of Southern Utah, and Cherry Creek Radio’s B92.1 FM and Star98 FM.
