CEDAR CITY — How impressive was Snow Canyon’s 2-0 shutout of Cedar Thursday night? To put it in perspective, consider that the Lady Reds had been averaging 4.7 goals a game this season and had notched 17 unanswered scores in three region games, including a 3-0 win over defensing state champ Dixie Tuesday night.
But Thursday night was all SC as the Lady Warriors scored within the first 10 minutes of the game on a goal by Brooklyn Wood and netted an insurance goal early in the second half by Jenny Stewart to get the key road win.
Cedar hadn’t been scored on in 26 days and CHS keeper Shat Bauman already has five shutouts this season. But it was sophomore Aubrey Gooch who was the star in net this night as she turned away all of the Cedar shot attempts. Gooch, filling in for junior Madison Mooring, recorded her first varsity shutout.
The top three teams have all beaten each other, with Cedar topping Dixie, SC beating the Reds and the Flyers edging Snow Canyon.
Meanwhile, Pine View made a case for being in the playoff race with a 4-0 win over Hurricane. Four different Lady Panthers notched goals, Taylor Bandley, Brilee barrow, Sadie Blaisdell and Shaneice Lourenco. Andi Baron got the shutout for the Panthers.
Dixie also won Thursday night, defeating Desert Hills 3-2. Liz Durrant, Starlee Woodbury and Tanner Gledhill all scored for Dixie. Elle Larkin and Brittany Terry had goals for DH.
Next Tuesday’s slate in Region 9 has Cedar at Pine View, Canyon View at Dixie and Desert Hills at Hurricane.

The headline is about the amazing shut out game between Snow Canyon and Cedar Dixie’s win and PV’s win, and then every single photo is of Hurricane vs PV??
That’s funny. I also find it interesting that in describing the amazing shut out, they mention the players who scored points, and the goalie, but made not mention of any of the defenders who were a HUGE part of the 0 in the 2-0 part of the shut out! They never seem to get any of the credit which is unfortunate.
