HURRICANE—Because Animals Matter is hosting its annual Dog Day Spectacular event on Saturday, outdoors at the Hurricane Community Center, 63 South 100 West, Hurricane, Utah.
To start the day off, BAM will host a walk at 8 a.m. to raise awareness for animals. Robin Kirker, longtime animal rights activist and owner of Tails off Trails, will lead the walk. Kirker’s hiking experience with animals promises a lively and enjoyable walk. Your $25 entry donation earns you a souvenir T-shirt and raffle tickets.
“My favorite part of the Dog Day Spectacular each year is getting to see our region’s residents, both people and dogs, come together in Hurricane for a fun day out,” Smith said. “The experience is unlike anything else in Hurricane. There is a huge variety of dogs that attend and last year we even had one guinea pig visitor, and there’s usually a regular visit from a beautiful Macaw who belongs to one of Because Animals Matter’s volunteers.”
Events running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. include FUNgility demonstrations with a chance to have your dog run through the FUNgility course, Skyhoundz DiscDogathon World Championship Qualifier, Southern Utah Dog Sports flyball, adoptable animals from Because Animals Matter and other area rescues H.A.R.T., P.A.W.S., We Care for Animals and Best Friends.
A wide variety of local vendors (some pet related) will be on site all day on the community center grounds. Dog Works Mobile Grooming will be offering nail trimming and other limited services. BAM will conduct a raffle with a wide variety of products donated by local businesses and the event’s vendors. The 2014-2015 Pets Make a Difference calendar will debut at the event as well. Buy raffle tickets and calendars at BAM’s event booth.
