It’s early, but there already looks to be some separation in Region 9 girls soccer between the top three teams and the rest of the league. Tuesday night was a prime example as Cedar, Dixie and Snow Canyon all recorded shutouts and are the three teams left without a loss in region play.
The Lady Reds have put up eye-popping scores in two region games, outscoring opponents 14-0, including Tuesday’s 8-0 win over Canyon View. Brooklyn Shakespeare has eight goals already this year, powering home four against the Lady Falcons. Holly Carpenter also scored two goals and Julia Hunk and Nicole Jenkins also scored. Shay Bauman recorded the shutout in goal.
Dixie played its first region game Tuesday night (last week’s opener was washed out by the sour weather) and the defending state champs got a home win against Pine View, 2-0. Alexa Estridge scored both goals for the Lady Flyers, while Taylor Whitson kept the net free for the shutout.
Snow Canyon held serve at home by shutting out Desert Hills 1-0. Madison Mooring protected the slim lead for most of the game and got the shutout. Jenny Stewart scored the lone goal, which came early in the game.
