SANTA CLARA — A Washington County man, 61, was found dead on a trail in the Anasazi Valley Thursday afternoon.
At 10:45 a.m. a vehicle was reported to have been parked abnormally long at the trailhead for the Anasazi Valley trail system. The reporting person said that they were concerned with how long the vehicle had been sitting unattended at this location, Washington County Sheriff’s Detective Nate Abbott said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and ran the license plate of the vehicle to identify the registered owner. After identifying the man, responders initiated an investigation of the area.
Deputies found the man’s body lying on the ground on one of the trails. He had water with him and at this time nothing seems to be suspicious about the man’s death, Abbott said.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Family has been notified but the name has not been released.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.
