Two men arrested after stabbing in St George

ST. GEORGE – Two men are in police custody and another man is in surgery after a confrontation at a St. George residence led to one individual being stabbed in the torso.

According to a press release issued by the St. George Police Department, officers responded to the area of 600 North and 500 West around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, after receiving information from the St. George Communications Center that a confrontation had taken place at an apartment complex.

During this time, one of the men involved in the altercation had made his way to the hospital after sustaining  knife wounds to his torso. After his arrival at Dixie Regional Medical Center, he was taken into surgery and is expected to survive, according to the press release.

St. George Police, along with the Washington County Attorney’s office, have been investigating this case throughout the day.

Alexander Gatherum and Taylor Cole Hintz, both of St. George, have been arrested and charged in this case.

Gatherum was transported and booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility on charges of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class-B misdemeanor. As of this publication, he is currently in custody on $5,583  bail.

Hintz was also transported and booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility on charges of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; receiving stolen property, a class-B misdemeanor; and an unrelated warrant out of Box Elder County. As of this publication, he is currently in custody on $11,223 bail.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

    Those apartments are too close for comfort…. This town has steadily gone downhill. I’ve lived here 8 years, and I can’t wait to leave.
