ST. GEORGE – The countdown is on for the City of St. George’s 2014 fireworks extravaganza, which will light up the sky in just a few hours. But spectators don’t have to be part of the crowd at the Dixie Sun Bowl, Vernon Worthen Park or other popular Fourth of July gathering places to experience the full celebration – just tune your radio dial to 99.9 FM KONY Country and cast your eyes skyward.
The City of St. George and KONY Country have joined forces to offer the community a marriage of pyrotechnics and music this Independence Day. Around 10 p.m., the fireworks spectacular will begin, lighting up the sky over St. George. Simultaneously, radio personality Carl Lamar will broadcast over the airwaves via KONY Country with narration and musical accompaniment for the show in the sky.
The fireworks will be launched from separate points in the city, choreographed in time to the KONY broadcast. So wherever you are, whatever you’re doing this Fourth of July in St. George, head to a high spot or find a clear vantage point, look to the sky and tune your radio to 99.9 FM KONY Country.
