SOUTHERN UTAH — Professional and amateur photographers of all ages are invited to submit their photos for the Seventh Annual Virgin River Basin Calendar Photo Contest, sponsored by the Virgin River Program. Submissions are being accepted now through Sept. 1. Photos must feature the Virgin River Basin to be considered for inclusion in the Virgin River Program’s 2015 calendar.
More than 350 photos were received last year, said Steve Meismer, local coordinator for the Virgin River Program. The submitted images featured landscapes, wildlife and water.
“The Virgin River Basin is a naturally scenic area, making it an ideal location for a photo shoot,” Meismer said.
Participants can submit up to 10 photos. Landscape orientation is preferred, and high-resolution images are required. The annual calendar is distributed by the Virgin River Program to local elected officials, schools, community leaders and others.
Images featured in the calendar will also be on display at the Division of Wildlife Resources Washington County Field Office, 451 N. state Route 318 in Hurricane.
The grand prize winner will receive an iPod Touch and his or her winning image highlighted on the calendar cover. All photographers will receive photo credit.
Submit photos or learn more online, or call 435-673-3617 for more information.
