SOUTHERN UTAH – Primary elections today in Southern Utah will effectively decide who will represent state Senate District 28 for the next four-year term and will effectively decide who will serve as Washington County Attorney for the next four-year term as there are no other-party challengers for either position. In Iron County, Tuesday’s Primary will also decide the Republican nominee for state House District 72, who will proceed against a Libertarian candidate in November.
For state Senate District 28, which serves Beaver and Iron counties as well as the eastern half of Washington County, Republican voters will decide between incumbent Evan Vickers and challenger Casey Anderson.
For state House District 72, Iron County Republicans will decide their nominee going forward between incumbent Rep. John Westwood and challenger Blake Cozzens. The nominee will run against Libertarian Barry Evan Short in November’s General Election.
For Washington County Attorney, Republican voters will decide between incumbent Brock Belnap and challenger Nathan Caplin.
