Dig the long ball: Utah state long drive championships begin today at Coral Canyon Golf Course

ST. GEORGE — Sports Radio ESPN 106.1 FM in St George brings you Southern Utah’s ultimate golf event, the 10th Annual Interstate Battery Utah State Long Drive Championship and the Salisbury Homes Hole-In-One Shootout June 12-14 at Coral Canyon Golf Course.

The activities start today at 4 p.m. and is open to the public each day until 8 p.m. Competitors can register at the event for as little as $10.

The long drive championship will be include some of the top hitters in the world as well as the top local hitters and up and comers.

Locals can listen to the action live inside the Devin Dixon Show or the public is welcome to attend all weekend at Coral Canyon.

Locals set to compete include three-time champ Logan Leavitt, Chad Kline (2012 Men’s Open champ) and Greg Walker (2013 Men’s Senior champ) as well as other long hitters throughout Southern Utah and the West. It should be another terrific field.

There are a total of seven divisions to compete in for the long drive: Men’s Senior 45 and up, Super Senior 52 and up, Masters 60 and up, Men’s Amateur Open, Men’s Open, Women’s Open and the Junior Division (17 and under).

The Women’s and Jr. Division Finals will be Friday night starting at 8 p.m.

Inside the event will be added excitement with the Zion Golf Accuracy Zone  and the Wingnutz Hot Zone, a chance for competitors to win additional prizes on the spot.

Coral Canyon will also feature the Utah Long Drive 4-man scramble — an 18-holes event that start June 13 at 7 a.m. Registration is $200 per team, with lots of contests inside the scramble, plus a chance to win an RV from Camping World or a car from Team D Auto Sales on par 3-holes.

The Sunrise Tire Putting Contest is today and Friday at the practice putting green. Qualifying rounds start at 4 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Finals are Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Salisbury Homes Hole-In-One Shootout will take the top eight each day to finals with one shot per finalist for the chance to get a hole-in-one and win a $250,000 value home.

The Salisbury Shootout Finals will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the Long Drive Men’s Division Finals, which will conclude at about 8:30 p.m.
