ST. GEORGE –The Southern Utah Art Guild is celebrating the opening of the Red Cliff Gallery Friday to showcase 178 pieces of visual artwork crafted by local artists.
The Southern Utah Art Guild is a non-profit organization that showcases all forms of visual art mediums to stimulate growth and interest of visual arts throughout the Southern Utah community.
Before the Southern Utah Art Guild switched to a non-profit organization in 2013, it was previously called the Visual Arts Association.
The gallery officially opens Friday at 11 a.m. and a reception will be held in the afternoon to honor the artists, and is open to the public. The reception begins at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Mayor John Pike will be at the reception to hand out the awards.
The Red Cliff Gallery is located at 220 North 200 East in the former City Annex. After the city annex building was remodeled it was renamed the St. George Commons.
“This is the first of many shows scheduled to be held by the Southern Utah Art Guild and the Red Cliff Gallery this year,” Bobbi Wan-kier said. Wan-kier has been on the guild since 2013 and is the founder of Arts to Zion that began in 2011.
This gallery is a celebration for the future to create an environment to bring artists and the public together to showcase local artists’ talent. The gallery will have art on display all year round with pieces for sale.
