ST. GEORGE – A woman was taken to the hospital after her car jumped the curb and crashed into the side of a condo Saturday afternoon.
Around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, the St. George Communications Center received a report of a vehicle versus a house in the area of 600 E. 900 South. Police, fire and ambulance units were dispatched.
Michael Terry was looking at a boat for sale by the road when he witnessed the accident occur. He said a red Pontiac Vibe was heading eastbound on 900 South at what appeared to be a high rate of speed when it failed to turn into the curve. The car jumped the curb and zipped past where the boat was parked. It barely missed sideswiping a power pole before driving over a lawn and tearing out a small tree trunk, Terry said.
The car then hit a garage door and finally came to a stop after hitting a Volkswagen Jetta parked the driveway.
“It looked like she was flying,” witness Joshua Dwyer said. He said he had been driving a friend home when he saw the accident. Dwyer echoed Terry’s story of the Pontiac Vibe jumping the curb and ultimately hitting the parked car.
It looked like the woman’s car may have experienced some kind mechanical malfunction, Dwyer said.
The driver of the Vibe, an adult female, was awake and conscious when St. George Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance personnel removed her from the car, Dwyer said. She was then transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The extent of any injuries is unknown at this point.
St. George Police officers at the scene were unable to comment as to any possible causes of the crash. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Is it possible this driver went “full retard” behind the wheel?
Its possible but not likely,If that was me driving and my brakes went out I would do anything to stop even if it meant causing property damage
Part of the failed GM recalls?
More likely, she was driving like an idiot and her brain needs recalled.
