OREM — Cedar did it again, staving off elimination with another clutch victory at the 3A State Baseball Tournament Friday. This time the Redmen had a lot of help.
After dropping a game in the opening pod last weekend to Juan Diego, Cedar won its fourth straight game in the 3A State Tournament with a 13-8 victory over Park City at Brent Brown Ballpark Friday night.
In the tourney’s late game, Cedar got a heaping helping of assistance from the Miners in the third inning. The Redmen got a few hits, but mostly it was Park City giving bases — and runs — away. PC issued seven walks, three wild pitches, a balk and an error in what turned out to be an 11-run inning that turned the game from a 4-1 Miners lead to a 12-4 Cedar blowout.
The Redmen will battle Desert Hills at 9 a.m. at the BBB in yet another elimination game. Cedar has lost twice this season to the Thunder.
