Washington City residents invited to join in clean up of illegal dump sites

WASHINGTON CITY – Washington City officials are inviting residents from the community to participate with city employees in cleaning up illegal dump sites on public land located within city limits.

Garbage, yard trimmings, even appliances and furniture are often dumped in isolated locations around the community rather than being properly disposed of. This refuse is not only unsightly and distracts from the beauty of our surroundings, but can also become safety hazards for residents and visitors enjoying our public lands.

The clean up event will be held in conjunction with this year’s Washington City Cotton Days activities on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Volunteers are meeting at the vacant lot located on the south west corner of the intersection at Buena Vista Boulevard and Main Street in Washington City at 8 a.m. Please dress appropriately and bring some gloves.

If you have questions regarding this event, please contact Officer Mark Hendry of the Washington City Code Enforcement Division at 435-986-1515.
