Softball roundup: Warriors, Falcons get big wins to stay on top of Region 9

ST. GEORGE — Snow Canyon and Canyon View both faced lower-tier opponents Wednesday night and the results were not surprising as the two teams came away with big wins to stay on top of Region 9 in softball action around southern Utah.

softbSnow Canyon improved to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in region with the victory and will enjoy the long Easter weekend on a two-game winning streak. SC hosts Dixie next Tuesday.

Canyon View kept pace with the Warriors by winning at Pine View 6-0. Josie Platt pitched the shutout for the Falcons, scattering eight hits. Her defense backed her up, committing just a single error in the game.

CV scored a run in the first, two in the second and three more in the third to forge the early lead for Platt. The Falcons had 10 hits and were aided by three Pine View errors.
