ST. GEORGE — An overtime win at home by Dixie and a road win by Pine View have created quite a traffic pile-up at the top of Region 9 in boys soccer, with four teams with one loss each as we near the halfway point of region play.
Dixie threw its hat in that mix with a 2-1 overtime win over Snow Canyon Friday night at Walt Brooks Stadium.
The Flyers trailed 1-0 at halftime as Jonathan Tuscano’s first-half goal was the only tally in the opening 40 minutes. Dixie tied the game before regulation expired, then took the win with an OT goal to improve its record to 6-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in region play.
Caeser Perez and Jonathan Acosta had the two goals for the Flyers. It was the second goal of the season for each of those players. Dixie plays at Canyon View next Tuesday night.
For the Warriors, 4-3-2 and 3-1-1, it was also Tuscano’s second goal of the year. SC plays at Cedar Tuesday afternoon.
Pine View 2, Cedar 1
Michael Cardenas scored the lone goal of the second half, his fifth of the year, as Pine View handed Cedar its first region loss of the season.
It was tied at 1-1 at the half with Cedar scoring on a Michael Briano goal and Pine View picking up a score on a Cedar own-goal.
The Panthers, 7-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in region, are off Tuesday and home for Desert Hills Friday night,
The Redmen, 6-2-0 and 3-1-0, are home for Snow Canyon Tuesday night.
Desert Hills 1, Canyon View 0
It was all about the defense Friday night as Vincent Enfield recorded the shutout for the Thunder. The only goal of the night came on an own-goal by the Falcons in the first half.
DH improved to 2-6-1 overall and 1-4-0 in region with the victory. The Thunder play at home vs. Hurricane Tuesday.
CV fell to 2-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in region. The Falcons play at home vs. Dixie Tuesday.
