ST. GEORGE – At approximately 11 a.m. Sunday, two dirt bikes collided sending one female to the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. The accident occurred on a motocross track, the St. George Motoproving Ground, commonly known in the community as “the track.”
The other person involved in the crash, a male, appeared OK, St. George Fire Department Shift Capt. Tyler Talbot said on scene. He was told that the male was up and about after the accident, he said.
The female who was taken to the hospital had hip pain, but, Talbot said, he was unsure of how severe her injuries were.
Gold Cross Ambulance Service, St. George Fire Department, and St. George Police Department were all on scene to help with the accident.
The track was bustling with riders and their crews Sunday. A motocross competition occurred at the track on Saturday, however today was just a practice day at the track.
The St. George Motoproving Ground is a privately owned motocross park located at 5536 S. Desert Canyon Parkway in St. George. The track has, among other things, hairpin turns, steep jumps, and berms for riders to negotiate.
