Last meeting: Hawaii Pacific 96, Dixie State 77 HPU gives the Red Storm its first loss of the season after opening up 11-0. The Sea Warriors dominated from beginning to end, shooting 56 percent from the floor, 42 percent from the arc. The victory came on Dixie’s third leg of its Hawaii trip and was the only season match between the two teams.
Game outlook: The Sea Warriors sport a miserable 1-6 record in conference play on the mainland, their sole victory coming against Dominican. HPU handed Dixie its first loss and the Red Storm have not forgotten that. Momentum favors Dixie State as they are coming off an overtime victory over the season conference champions, Cal Baptist, while HPU is coming off a loss to last place, UH-Hilo and losing 5 out of their last 7 games. In the first game Farman’s presence in the lane was formidable, blocking six shots and altering many others. They also outshot Dixie from the field, 56 to 41 percent. Dixie will need to reverse those numbers to reach the semifinals.

Last meeting: BYU-Hawaii 99, Chaminade 98 (OT) Chaminade’s Bailey hits from distance to send it to overtime. BYU-Hs Mitchell drives for winning layup with four seconds left in OT. Chaminade shot better but the Seasiders scored 26 points off 22 Chaminade turnovers.
Game outlook: These two teams split the season series, both winning in overtime on the other team’s home court. The teams mirror each other in many aspects. They are both among the conference leaders in scoring and in shooting percentages. When Chaminade takes care of the ball, they are dangerous. They average over 16 turnovers in their seven conference losses and only 12 in their 13 wins. BYU-H is even worse, averaging 16 turnovers per game. This game will come down to who takes care of the ball better. Cal Baptist would like to see BYU-H, as they had trouble beating Chaminade at home—without Chaminade’s two leading scorers.
