California Baptist’s Ryan Berg became the first player in PacWest history to be named Player and Freshman of the Year in the same season, while also earning a first team All-PacWest honor. Berg’s teammate Chris Brown was named the inaugural PacWest Defensive Player of the Year and their coach, Rick Croy, received the PacWest Coach of the Year honor in his first season at the helm of the Lancers. Point Loma’s Hayden Lescault was named PacWest Newcomer of the Year.

Berg ranked sixth in the conference in scoring (17.5 ppg), while leading in free throws (124) and ranking third in three-pointers (73). He scored in double-figures in all but three games on the year. He exploded onto the PacWest scene when he made eight three-pointers and scored 34 points in a win over nationally-ranked Dixie State, which gave CBU a 15-0 record. Berg was the second-best scorer in conference games, averaging 18.6 ppg.
