ST. GEORGE – The Southern Utah Heritage Choir will present “Songs of Faith: A Celebration of Hymns” in the St. George Tabernacle on Sunday at 7 p.m. The performance will be accompanied by special guest narrator Rev. Amy Seifert, associate pastor of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The program will feature well known hymns from many different faiths. Those who attend will enjoy favorites like “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” “Nearer My God to Thee,” “For the Beauty of the Earth,” and many more. The choir will also present some of the music that it performed on its international tour to Ireland last fall. Among those are “Be Thou My Vision,” “God of Our Fathers,” and “Redeemer of Israel” arranged by Mack Wilberg.
Dr. Nancy Allred will direct the 180-member choir with Karen Cantera on organ and Brandon Lee on piano.
Seifert was appointed associate pastor of Shepherd of the Hills in 2011 and one of her many responsibilities is the music director. Seifert has enjoyed over 20 years of ministry experience and has served churches in Kansas, Minnesota, and Missouri. She earned her undergraduate degree from Baker University, in Baldwin City, Kan., and majored in music education. Her master’s degree is in Christian leadership. Amy Seifert and her husband Todd Seifert have two children.
