TOQUERVILLE — Emergency responders were dispatched to a fire at 1248 South Cholla in Toquerville at 7:35 p.m. Monday where they found a residential garage fully engulfed in flames.
Hurricane Valley Fire Chief Tom Kuhlmann reported that the homeowner heard a sound coming from his driveway area, Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said. When the homeowner went outside to check, he saw flames coming from his two-story garage which was attached to the house by a breezeway.
The fire was contained to the garage but the garage and its contents were destroyed. Kuhlmann reported to Buell an estimated $85,000 loss for the garage and $85,000 loss for contents.
There were no injuries to homeowners or firefighters.
Both Hurricane and Hildale Fire Departments responded, with a total of 28 firefighters, two engines, one ladder and six support vehicles. Washington County Sheriff’s Office provided support.
Although the cause of fire was still under investigation as this report is published, there was no appearance of anything suspicious involved in the incident.
